Great product, I’m on my second boat with Coppercoat.

“Fantastic! I don’t touch it! I don’t use my boat as much as I would like but it still stays clean. The yard just lift her once a year and spray with a pressure washer. 20 mins later it’s back in the water. Perfect!”

As far as I am concerned, it really does work. John Burges has much the same experience as me. He reports that he is delighted with the product

We’ve travelled 40,000 nautical miles on the first application of Coppercoat over a period of 12 years. The protection the product has provided is unparalleled, both for anti-fouling and osmosis protection. Pulling the boat out on the hardstanding we were extremely happy to see no signs of osmosis, especially when you see the other GRP boats coming out requiring substantial repairs.Even though Coppercoat has a slightly higher initial cost over other anti-fouls, its long lifespan and other benefits makes it far cheaper in the long run.

We put Coppercoat® on our boat 4 years ago. it is brilliant; each time we lift out all we do is jet wash and it’s as good as new. We have received many envious comments from those having to deal with traditional antifouling. It is probably the best investment we made, saving us lots of time and lots of money too. I can’t rate the product highly enough.

We first used Coppercoat nearly 25 years ago on one of our High performance Dazcat catamarans, since then our use of Coppercoat has continued to increase to the point where we now offer Coppercoat on all of our new builds. It seems madness not to apply Coppercoat to a new build when you have a clean hull fresh out of the mould. It only takes a few more hours to apply then traditional options on a new hull and will last for many years.
As a boatbuilder we face many challenges, logistical, technical, environmental etc and including Coppercoat in our builds helps in all these departments. Traditionally antifoul, a dirty job is applied in the few days before delivery just when the rest of the boat is being cleaned to an inch of its life so not ideal. On the other hand we are able to apply Coppercoat months before delivery if necessary avoiding this conflict.
We produce High speed ,custom builds and have found that the hard epoxy finish of Coppercoat doesn’t blunt the performance of our craft in the same way that traditional ablative antifoul does. After burnishing the Coppercoat, our boats have exceptionally smooth hulls which can only help them sail at 20kts plus more frequently.
Looking after the environment is as important to us as it is to our customers and unlike applying traditional antifoul when our build shed has to be evacuated for the day, unless we antifoul at night!!! the unique VOC free water based nature of Coppercoat means that everyone can keep working in a solvent free environment ?
Owning a fast multihull can mean that traditional antifoul erodes more quickly than usual, this is not a problem with abrasion resistant, long life Coppercoat that can be simply scrubbed at low tide also negating the need to lift a vessel with a beam that can exceed 25 ft!
For all of the reasons above as well as significantly less damaging chemicals leaching off into our environment, Coppercoat is the right choice for so many reasons.

He set sail from Shamrock Quay for the Caribbean, visiting Grenada as well as crossing the Atlantic to Portugal where his yacht is now at Villamoura. He has told me that he is delighted with Coppercoat and that there is no growth of seaweed or barnacles on the treated part of his hull, but there is some barnacle growth on the boat topping which he did not cover with Coppercoat

“There was no weed or barnacles on the Coppercoated hull and just 30 minutes after its lift and clean off I was back on the water and heading out to the Solent, where I was pleased to find that she was still just as quick as she was last season. On the basis of these results I wouldn’t hesitate to use Coppercoat® again.”

Our experience with Coppercoat has been fantastic. In all the 14 years we’ve never had a barnacle, seaweed, nothing…. The original claim for our Coppercoat was that it would last 10 years and many people were sceptical. Our test proves the doubters wrong.

The main advantage of Coppercoat is that it is lower maintenance than ordinary paint, and owners in the Med have told us that they need less frequent haul-outs to deal with waterline weed and general slime. Owners in the Caribbean have told us that their hulls stayed cleaner for much longer.
